“Super Losses” of Healthcare Sector

The overall cost and frequency of so called $50 million plus “super losses” in the U.S. healthcare insurance sector are on the rise. According to a report from specialist healthcare insurer Hiscox, the large losses keep on getting larger with juries in the last two years alone awarding more than $1 billion in total damages for just seven medical liability cases. Mexico, Brazil and South Africa are most at risk for cargo theft, FreightWatch International (USA) Inc. said Monday in a report. Total cargo thefts in Mexico increased 13% in 2011, with more than 10,000 hijackings occurring on roads and highways reaching an estimated value of losses of $9 billion, according to the Austin, Texas-based logistics security agency. 21% of all theft incidents targeted the food and drink industry.
