Michigan Drivers to Pay Less Fees

Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder has signed legislation that will eliminate some extra fees that are imposed on drivers for certain traffic offenses, effective October 2012.

Senate Bill 166 repeals pieces of the state’s “driver responsibility” program that adds extra fees to some offenses that offenders already must pay fines for committing.

The State of Michigan estimates a loss of ~ $20 million / year in fees, once the law becomes effective.
