Why Insurance is Important
Insurance plays a vital role when doing business with SAN LORENZO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT. SLUSD safeguards all involved parties against unforeseen events, providing both peace of mind and financial protection. While specific requirements may vary depending on the products or services a vendor offers to the SLUSD, the following general requirements typically apply to contracts.
The SAN LORENZO UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT requires evidence of insurance from various parties that use SLUSD facilities. All parties shall furnish to the District PRIOR to commencement of activity, an Acord™ Certificate of Insurance (COI) form stating that there is insurance in effect with the minimum limits shown below. NOTE: At the discretion of the SLUSD (due to the nature of the contract, activity, event or the number of people in attendance) higher limits or other requirements may be specified. Each completed COI should be sent to the attention of the contracting party at the San Lorenzo Unified School District, 15510 Usher Street, San Lorenzo, CA 94580.
Key Insurance Requirements
SAM, Sexual Abuse and Molestation Insurance: the COI must state whether insurance includes coverage for sexual abuse and molestation, it could be included with General Liability. Minimum limit is $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 Aggregate limit.
General liability Insurance, including both bodily injury and property damage, with limits as follows:
– $1,000,000 per occurrence
– $2,000,000 general aggregate
The COI must provide specific information as to the date and contract/activity/event for which the certificate is being issued. Coverage must be written on an “occurrence” form and maintained throughout the term of any contract/activity/event.
By endorsement the policy must reflect “San Lorenzo Unified School District, its board members, agents, employees and consultants are included as additional insured as required by written contract with respect to General Liability.”
- Worker’s compensation and Employers Liability. Proof of Workers’ Compensation coverage with statutory limits is required if the vendor/ consultant has employees.
– Part A – Statutory Limits
– Part B – $1,000,000/$1,000,000/$1,000,000 Employers Liability
- Automobile liability insurance Business Auto Liability Insurance for owned, scheduled, non-owned or hired automobiles with a combined single limit of no less than $1 million per occurrence. If no owned autos, then non-owned/hired coverage may be accepted at the discretion of SLUSD
